I commemorate Andy Hertzfeld ’s famous Apple business organisation card , back in the 1980s . His title of respect was : “ Software Wizard ” . The Apple business card above is modern and belong to Andy Grignon . His statute title is : “ F**kchop ” . And it was Steve Jobs who circumstantially gave Andy his visiting card title :
In the other iChatAV days , one of the many thing Steve Jobs visit me was a “ fuckchop ” . When I get to iPod , I thought it would make a skillful title .
Andy expand the description on how he got his card in his Facebook page :
Mandy institute some of my older Apple business add-in . This one was great because after I submitted it for approval , I did n’t listen anything for 2 weeks . Suspecting something was up , I visit Ruby and ask what was happening with my card . He answer , “ c’m on , that ca n’t go on a carte … ” Not more than a few hours afterward , Apple Printing suppose everything was approved and on its style . WTF ? Turns out unless a coach specifically spurn a card , they auto - approve in 2 weeks . Huzzah ! So , here rest a will to a broken process .

This whole weird title name begin back in the day of the Macintosh . Andy Hertzfeld , who was truly a software wizard and the primary architect for the Macintosh Operating System , tells about it inFolklore.org :
Initially , we did n’t have conventional title in the Mac group , but we call for to figure out what they were in ordering to get business card made . My title with the Apple II radical was “ Senior Member of Technical Staff ” , which sounded dim to me . I say Peggy Alexio , Rod Holt ’s secretary , who was ordering the business menu , that I did n’t want any , because I did n’t like my deed of conveyance .
The next day Steve [ Jobs ] came by and differentiate me that he pick up that I did n’t want line of work cards , but he need me to have them , and he did n’t care what title I used ; I could foot any form of address that I liked . After a small bit of thought , I decided on “ Software Wizard ” , because you could n’t tell apart where that fit in the corporate hierarchy , and it seemed a suited metaphor to reflect the virtual conjuration of software innovation .
When I told Burrell [ Smith , who designed the motherboard for the original Macintosh , Laserwriter and the Apple IIe ] about my new title , he immediately lay claim “ Hardware Wizard ” for himself , even though I discouraged him , since it fall the singularity of my title of respect . And , as soon as word of honor got around , great deal of other folks on the Mac team started to change their title to something more originative . The movement persisted at Apple for many years , and even circulate to other companies , but as far as I experience , that ’s how it got started .
