The Bachelorette’sRachel LindsayandBryan Abasolohave split after more than six years together.
“After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew,” Abasolowrote on InstagramTuesday. “My parents have been married forever and I’m a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go. I wanted you to hear it from the source before the blogs start making up their own reality. Please respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps.”
One day before the divorce news broke, Lindsay, 38, posted on her Instagram Story from fitness studio Barry’s Bootcamp, writing that she was “sweating out everything from 2023.”

In a December episode ofNick Viall’sViall Filespodcast, Lindsay explained why she and Abasolo — who met on her season ofThe Bachelorettein 2017 andtied the knotin August 2019 — kept their relationship largely private.
“We don’t put ourselves out there at all [except] maybe an anniversary or a holiday, but I think I did that because people were so critical of us when we came off the show,” Lindsay told Viall, 43.
TheReal Loveauthor also said she wanted to be purposeful about what she shared. “Marriage has ups and downs, but you never know when we’re good or when we’re not because we never put it out there,” Lindsay continued. “I kind of want to keep it that way, so when I want to share something, I do.”

After leavingThe Bachelorette, the couplelived on separate coasts,with Lindsay in Los Angeles working on her career, while Abasolo focused on his chiropractor business in Miami.
“I didn’t move to L.A. because I just love the city,” Lindsay told Abasolo on hisDr. Abs Healthcastpodcast. “You’re focusing on your practice and building it to a place you want it to be, and I am here in L.A. working forExtraand doing other things, and we’re doing this to eventually bring ourselves together.”
At the time, they stressed that they don’t plan to live apart forever, saying they “have a timeline.”
“We know where we’re going, we know where we’re headed, and we know what we’re trying to build as Abasolos,” Lindsay said. (At the time of their split, the pair lived together in L.A.)

In 2020, Lindsay admitted that self-isolating during thecoronavirusoutbreak hadput stress on their relationship. “Absolutely, we’ve had fights. Absolutely,” she said during an appearance onRealitea with Derek Z. “We get on each other’s nerves.”
Still, the reality star formerlytold PEOPLEthat quarantining together had brought them closer together.
“We’ve definitely grown close together because we’re planning a future,” Lindsay said in September 2020. “We’re starting to have those conversations about where do we plant roots and having children and what’s the timeline for that.”

As recently as November, Lindsay shared that she and Absolo planned to start a family together.
“It’s something that we want,” the lawyer-turned-entertainment correspondent toldE! News. “It’s been harder than I thought it would be. We’re trying. You think, ‘Oh yeah, when I’m ready, I’ll make it happen.’ But it’s just been a little bit more difficult for us. But we’re definitely starting the process.”
Lindsay said she felt excited to combine her culture with Abasolo’s Colombian background “to create this unit together.”
