Oh , Dracula . You may not have maintained the madcap weirdness of your first two episodes , but you ’re always ready to make me utter a mournful “ SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FUCK IS come about ” and for that , I thank you .
There ’s a lot going on in this episode , although it ’s not quite as high wager as the old episodes . We begin on the Vampire Express , or whatever you want to call a train whose sole rider seem to be Lady Jane and three lamia minion . Jane kill two of them , but the third get by , and of class Jane and her boss Patrick from Coupling assume the one that get away is the old vampire who janked their seers last episode . Hey , why not ?
It turn out that this third vampire is Josef , an quondam state of war buddy of Dracula ’s ( which mean he ’s very old ) , who Dracula has more or less summoned to London to help him just as Lady Jane predicted last sequence . Dracula says Josef can bide in his house as long as he wants , although Xaro Xhoan Renfield is less than thrilled at the idea .
Dracula , meanwhile , has give away that the Order of the Dragon is trying to beset the Ottoman Empire into a warfare , so England can swoop up in take control of all their oil . So as Grayson , he charge Harker to do some digging on one General Shaw . This is a good call , because later in the sequence , Patrick from mate sports meeting with Shaw and a General Ogilvy , promptly poison Ogilvy for not managing to provoke those darned Ottomans in a warfare . A upset Shaw promise Patrick the war will begin next August .
Meanwhile , Grayson has ever - so - kindly offered to let Jonathan and Mina have their engagement party at his house , although both of them have left all the homework to Lucy ( whose obvious sexual love for Mina continues to sail mightily over Mina ’s header ) . Grayson receive Mina down to see round 2 of his free electricity experiment ; they have the cool problem figured out , but now they need stronger brand , as they find out when bolts and screws start fly around like bullets . Dracula shield Mina with a slow - motion clinch , which Mina also is find some eldritch vibes during , although it also upset her . There ’s more scientific progress when Dracula tries out Van Helsing ’s Vampire Sunscreen Juice ; Dracula is able abide the sunlight , but since Dracula has no tick heart , the serum can not pass on and only the area near the shot is affected . Josef wants this opportunity to toss off Jane , which Dracula / Grayson grants . But when Josef approaches the catch some Z’s Jane , Grayson bursts out for a small ( non - mud ) wrestling match of their own . Josef reasonably speedily and easy tosses Grayson through a table , knocking him out — which seems super - unlikely — but then Jane , seeing Grayson is ( supposedly ) unconscious and her mystery is safe , chop-chop beheads Josef , wipe out the vampire right away . The solvent is that Jane is in love with Grayson for trying to protect her ( even though he clearly broke into her sleeping accommodation to do so ) but also that Jane and Patrick from Coupling consider Josef must have been the ancient vampire they ’ve been looking for , and now London is safe and sound again . As Xaro Xhoan Renfield call it , “ A master stroke . ”
And speaking of Xaro Xhoan Renfield , he unfortunately end up being the sole fly in Dracula ’s ointment this week . Sir Laurent is still a touch miffed about Grayson more or less causing his son to commit suicide last calendar week , and while he catch blessing to break off Grayson from the Order Draco — the ordering believe Grayson is only threatening their economical interests , because Laurent ca n’t really explicate about his son and his mystic — and Laurent decides he ’s locomote to do a bit more than that . First cease : Hire an Order operative to go off - Bible and capture Xaro Xhoan Renfield . The episode ends with Renfield in a baby buggy with a bag over his school principal , kidnapped . It ’ll be interesting to see how tenacious Renfield manage to hold out against his employer … if at all .

The dirt Harker digs up on Shaw seems to be an Asiatic lady ? Not sure what ’s go on these , but I ’m betting 19th century intolerance is going to be involved !
I should also mention that the lead Harker suffer about the Asiatic lady is from a Corporal something - or - other , who I called “ Corporal Hobo ” in my notes . This name revel me so much I sha n’t be changing it .
Dracula wants Mina to marry Harker just to keep her near him , and Lucy is care all the mesh company detail for much the same reason ( although her programme backfire when Mina does n’t really give a bastard about the political party ) . Just an notice .
I assume at some point Dracula ’s live on to get around to turning Lucy into a vampire , correct ? I mean , not that this affair is n’t clear okay with going off - script , but I do n’t know what else the character is here for .

At the end of the episode , Dracula pelt a snatch of whisky in the fire for his fallen brother Josef . I.e. , Dracula pour out one for his homey . God , I jazz this show .
