As part of her creative person ’s residency on the UK Clinical Research Consortium Project“Modernising Medical Microbiology”at the University of Oxford , Dumitriu has been arise herMRSA QuiltandInfective Textilesprojects . She ferment with microbiologists to create works that communicate the impact of raw engineering science in the line of business . Like many quilts , her MRSA Quilt is meant as a storytelling enterprise . The quilt squares are made using natural and clinical antibiotic drug on Chromogenic ( paint - generating ) agar in which the fabric has been embed and inoculate the square with bacterium , make patterns that chew over the interaction between bacteria and antibiotic . The quilts are embroider with ribbon dyed with saffron crocus as well as with the antibiotic Vancomycin .
