At St. Swithern ’s Middle School , angels and demons mingle freely in the hallways . But little Diva Beelze does n’t fit in with the angels on account of her horns and does n’t outfit in with the devils thanks to her persistent desire to do good . And she ’s altogether unprepared when she comes into possession of a power that goes beyond mere good and evil .

Her hellhound , Cerby , is more of a handbag dog . Her best champion , Michelle , is an saint . And her school progress study lamentation that she ’s always too damn good in school . She does n’t fit in with the demons , and most of the angels do n’t treat her much better , peculiarly the uber - democratic Angela Bartleby , who may be better at fitting in , but is no better become for the angelical world than Diva is for the diabolical one .
But it ’s through her school guidance advocate , the occult Mr. Virgil , that Diva rule some import in her living — although that meaning proves more complicated than she ever expected . Diva becomes the caretaker of a magical artefact that fulfills her charming girl dreams , but also behaves in irregular ways . Diva thinks that this magical baron will deform her into a superhero , but she has to learn the shade of its major power — and why such powerful human body as the Dude and the Big Guy are suddenly so interested in her .
What makes Evil Diva so pleasurable is that it finally is n’t a taradiddle about good and evil — at least not in such simple terms . Diva ’s demonic kinsfolk may not fully understand Diva ’s do - gooder mode , but they adore her , and it ’s clear that some transgressions are not appropriate , even in the daemon world . And Diva is n’t the only character in the comic who is shell out with the fact that horns and a tail do n’t necessarily make someone a risky mortal , just like a halo does n’t necessarily make a person a true backer .
The comic has been through a handful of artists , with varying degrees of success with the character reference . ( And I ’ll admit , I ’m rather fond to the art in the earlier matter . ) But the sketchy comics prove how potent Menotti ’s writing is ; he makes fantabulous use of the mythology he ’s squeeze his hands into , and score my Dante and Vergil - lie with heart glad .
