Rather than tell a square narrative , my focus was on bringing a mother wit of depth and truth to the substitute reality where the story stretch out , leaving the audience to speculate about the nature of this world , what has brought our characters into this moment , and how this scene fits into a large tale . ”
strawberry mark utilise quick cuts and enigmatic effigy to explain the moody nature of the girl ’s superpower ; by the time you visualise out exactly what ’s going on in her drumhead , the haunting last shot is on the screen door . Simple , but very effective .
