Last week , I found myself disgusted again and was remind of that story . The plot of land is entertaining without being puzzling . There ’s a whole lot of awesome action , wish fulfilment , and an implausibly rousing score . In the death , you just desire towatch it again and again .

ET: The Extra-Terrestrial

This is the obvious one , right?We all jazz E.T.It ’s Steven Spielberg ’s classic about a young boy who befriend a lose alien and must battle against the odds to get the foreign menage . It ’s one of the most famous movies of all time , and is fundamentally the cinematic equivalent of comfort food — which shit it a very unspoilt movie to look on while you ’re disturbed .

Okay , it does have one form of flagrant shot when E.T. is all white and icky but if you ’ve seen this movie before , you’re able to sort of discipline out there . It ’s not the most complicated , nor is it the least complicated . It ’s the perfect medium - temperature Ghibli , which think if you ’re mad , it ’s got everything you need and more . The story of a untried witch who forms her own rescue service is a peachy approaching of age tale with gorgeous visuals and a plot of ground that ebbs and stream . But , at long last , Kiki and her big cat Jiji are so perfectly lovable you melt with their every move , and it ’s a joy to watch them economize the mean solar day in the ending .

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

A young boy finds out he ’s a famous wizard with a dangerous destiny in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer ’s Stone , the first in an eight - film Potter saga and by far the comfortable / proficient one to check while you ’re sick . But thanks to director Michael Bay ’s complete contempt for doable runtimes , Armageddon has layers and layer of mindless action at law , suspense , and emotion , enfold around narrative rubbish dump and uncalled-for asides that make watching it with one eye opened very easy and almost more enjoyable . Let ’s be clear here , though : Armageddon freaking rule even if it ’s mussy and uncanny .

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvel Studios ’ first fullcosmic adventure . It center around a group of five improbable heroes , including a speak raccoon and tree , who get together to save the universe . Now , you ’re probably thinking “ Wait , by your standards , ca n’t any Marvel movie be on this lean ? They ’re all pretty similar in tone . ” To which the answer is : “ No . ” Unlike most of the other Marvel movies , Guardians is almost completely standalone . You do n’t involve to see the others to revel it for what it is . It also has a level of irreverence most others do n’t , plus lots of drama , emotion , action , humour , and great music , mostly without all the complicated share universe stuff and nonsense . It has it all . It ’s the best .

The Muppets

Unlike most Marvel flick , I believe almost any motion picture in the Muppets dealership would , indeed , be good to watch while sick of . They ’re all steeped in nostalgia , incredibly funny , heartfelt , easily digestible , and of overall high tone . In this specific instance though , I ’m verbalise about the 2011 Muppets , with Jason Segel and Amy Adams , because it ’s one of my personal favorite . I love how it expend the reverence for all those other picture to drive the plot . I love its meta touches . I love its medicine . The whole thing is just so impertinent and wholesome and larger-than-life in a way some of the other Muppet picture show are n’t . That ’s why , while any Muppet movie will do , this would be my go - to .

In the mold of Armageddon , this is a motion-picture show that you just put on and either give careful care to or close up your eyes and open them every few moment to see something new and wild . The whole film is gorgeous , the set pieces are dynamic , and there ’s even some mettle in there , though it ’s not nearly as touching as most of the other films on this list . Nevertheless , Aquaman is here more because it ’s just so wholly entertaining and vivid you ca n’t facilitate but be proud of by it .
